what a bummer. i know that’s what you’re thinking. nope, this isn’t one of those top 40 albums of 2008 (ahem, Spin) or even a top ten list. if Spin, Rolling Stone and countless Internet whores are going to say TV On the Radio is the top album of 2008 or Lil Wayne’s Lollipop is the number one song you must listen to before you die, then i am going to stick to my Sunday ritual de lo habital with a big ol’ smile across my face. too many aging psychopaths and half-mad suit-wearing crack addicts are in charge of setting standards for the music genocide of 2008….
yes, i said music genocide. and so it is now that i sit back with my caffeine & nicotine in hand on this glorious Sunday morning and bemuse myself with blasts from the not-so distant & ever-fading past courtesy of KSYM 90.1FM’s (listen here) Sunday morning shindig w/two hours of the fabulous mop-tops on Best of the Beatles hosted by Richard Turner from 9am-11am, followed by two more hours of the Hillbilly Hit Parade with Hank Harrison, 11am-1pm. thank goodness for the Left Side Surf Club (aka good college radio at it finest) who still carter to the anti “radio killed the rockstar.”
