BioWillie’s new diggs

good time Willie

everything’s bigger in Texas thanks to Biodiesel barrons Willie Nelson and Carl Cornelius who have expanded their operation, Carl’s Corner, home to BioWillie, located off exit 374 on Interstate 35, with 12 master-satellite-high-flow diesel pumps-designed to fill up both an 18-wheeler’s fuel tanks at once. background info here. but, not only can Nelson fill up his biodiesel-running tour bus, he can also perform for the masses in the new Night Life Theater, built to house Nelson’s musicial friends and home to round-the-clock XM Radio’s Willie’s Place Channel 13 (hosted by Eddie Kilroy every AM)…From Texas Highways magazine:

Because the operation houses two restaurants, the convenience store, the 550-seat Night Life Theater, and the Whiskey River Saloon, it’s easy to see that Hillsboro now hosts an entertainment juggernaut in the making.

At a press conference on July 3, one writer asked Willie and Carl if the performance venue would be a problem for truckers trying to keep on schedule. Willie’s answer, “Well, it should be better than when Carl ran a strip joint here.” Hence the rogue spirit of the original rough-and-tumble Carl’s Corner will live on.

got to love those big Texas truck stops, especially when you can chow down on some home cooking, feel good about filling up, catch a country music legend & possibly get Uncle Jesse’s autograph.

  • On the evening of 26 nov. 2008, my family and I drove 80 miles from FRISCO TX. to check out the WHISKEY RIVER SALOON. What a BUMMER, the place was CLOSED! We listen to willies place on XM radio every day and have not a word about the place being closed. Willie, please let your fans and listeners know what’s up. We were very very disapointed after a 160 mile round trip for nothing.

    Disapointed and a little ”pissed.”
